Ashford Web Summer and Autumn Round-Up

We’ve been really rather busy over the Summer and Autumn at Ashford Web HQ. There’s been plenty of new projects launched, changes in staff and some fundraising. So, we thought we should practice what we preach and write about it all.

We’ll start with a round up of the new projects big and small that have been keeping us busy.

Proaudioeurope – Funky Junk

Funky Junk

From the outset it was clear that this project was going to be BIG. Pro Audio Europe aka Funky Junk are one of the countries leading Professional Studio Equipment suppliers, with some big names on their list of clients and friends, these guys are at the top of their game.

The project itself was quite complex amongst other things it involved migrating the legacy data from their Big Commerce installation to Magento, heavily customising the Magento theme to achieve all their design and functionality requirements and integrating the online shop with an extensive WordPress install.

Trademark Wizards

Trademark Wizards

Trade Mark Wizards are a team of Trademark Lawyers with a big ambition – to become the UK’s biggest Trade Mark filing house – no pressure then.

In fact Trademark Wizards needed more than just a website. With Henry at the helm taking control of design and customising WordPress and Jamie (with us on years placement from Belfast University) using his vast MySQL knowledge we were able to build a fully functioning site, e-commerce solution and a completely custom search facility, allowing users to search for and apply for Trademarks in one place.

Ffiona’s

Ffiona's

Having worked with Ffiona’s Restaurant for 3 years and having great success with their SEO and online marketing, we were really chuffed to be able to build them a brand new site. Ffiona’s old site had served faithfully and performed extremely well, however it was due for an overhaul.

Using the awesome WP-Forge which is based on the equally awesome Foundation Framework by Zurb, we built a brand new, fully responsive site. Add to the equation some fantastic photos (we spend a whole day with the team from Alison Wallis Photography taking photos of the venue and EVERY item of food on the menu) and you’ve got a great looking site.

Ian Lindsay Edwards

Ians-Signature250

Local artist Ian Lindsay-Edwards came to us looking for a site that was easy to update and minimal in design to showcase his collection of art.

Once again we used WP-Forge and Foundation, to create a responsive site that looks great whilst at the same time puts the artwork front and center, to let it do the talking.

So, as you can imagine, that lot kept us quite busy and we were helped immeasurably by Jamie Patterson. Jamie joined us for a years work placement from the The University of Belfast, and very quickly became a key member of the team. He’s gone back to Belfast to complete his final year now, however he still finds time to help out when we need some hardcore programming done. Thanks Jamie and good luck.

The Longest Day

MacMillan

As keen (but not very good) golfers we try to play as much as possible. Inevitably though we end up with very little to get out on the golf course. We did however make the time to take part in “The Longest Day” charity challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. “Golf? A Challenge?” We hear you say, well The Longest Day involves playing 4 full rounds of Gold in 1 day, that’s 72 holes and VERY long walk. In all we raised £379.41 for Macmillan.

For those who don’t know, Macmillan provide care and support for victims and Cancer and their families – every penny really helps, so thanks to all those who sponsored us and if you want to donate to a really worthy cause click the button below.

Well, that’s it for our Summer and Autumn Round-Up, we’ll try not leave it so long next time.
